Green. We have done as oar friend bade us; we gave it a fair test it is all gone and most unhesitatingly pronounce it as an excel lent articie of claret, fully equal to any, and superior to much of that bronght here from abroad. But this the de fendant claimed she did do, immediately going over the bomndary limits and then returning direc tly af terwards. His Hon or seemed puzzled to know how to deal with the case; the creature's native wit had beaten the Mayor. But the decision of the Court finally was that defendant go below for five days. Jno. Bat it is plain to our mind tha the law could not have meant to include Sundays in saying, "The first tea days in January and July." Laws enacted by legislatures in latter day times are generally ambiguous, and this is not an exceptional instance. The intention no doubt was to say the first ten working davs. Otherwise, a strict construction of the law would require the Register o Deeds to attend on Sandays occurring during these tea' days, and then our mu nicipal authorities would put a stop to that, for this would be a violation o their 'Sunday Ordinance, and hero we would have a conflict of State and muni cipal authorities at once. So the ques tion naturally arises, what are you going to do abont it ? - A Buoaway. ' Yesterday afternoon, about 5 o'clock, wrnnrt Mr. J. M. His pulse is a little higher than it was yesterday, but this, it is said, is owing partly to the fact of the weather and partly to the process of suppuration of the wound which is now going on. The case is declared by the physicians to be progressing satisfactorily. Fashion Notes. Pretty handkerchiefs for the neck are of white twilled silk, edged with Breton or Languedoc lace. Bonnets of all shapes, including those which show the hair back and front, or entirely conceal it, are worn. Dark green nun's veiling or French bunting makes a stylish dress for both young girls and older women. Pique dresses in princess form trimmed with Hamburg embroideries hold their places in fashionable favor. Large, wide-brimmed hats, turned up all around, are worn tilted back by girls who wear a bang oa the forehead. The charmed robe of high ceremony thi3 summer is of white surah, shirred and trimmed with white Spanish lace. Throatlets and wristlets of black vel- vet, trimmed with a network of beads and with com pendants, are coming in vogue. Tea gowns are made . in pink or blue flannel and worn in the morning; of silk damasse and brocade, and worn in the evening.
